This Privacy Policy explains what information Rummage Meal Planner ("the App," "we," "us") collects when you use our mobile application, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Rummage Meal Planner, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password (or, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the basic profile information those providers share with us — typically your name and email).
Information you enter into the App — pantry inventory, recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and price history you log — is stored in our database (hosted by Supabase) so it syncs across your sessions and devices.
If you choose to upload a profile photo, a receipt photo, or scan a product barcode, we access your device's camera or photo library (only with your permission, requested at the moment you use the feature) and store the resulting image to support that feature.
If you use store-lookup features (finding nearby Kroger/King Soopers locations), the App may request access to your approximate or precise device location. This is an on-demand, foreground-only lookup triggered when you actively use that feature — we do not track your location in the background or at any other time.
If you enable Face ID or fingerprint login, authentication is handled entirely on your device through Apple's or Android's own operating-system APIs. Rummage Meal Planner never receives, sees, transmits, or stores your biometric data (fingerprint or face scan) in any form. All the App receives is a simple "authentication succeeded" or "failed" result from your device's operating system, which it uses to unlock a previously-issued, encrypted sign-in token stored securely on your device.
If you choose to connect a Kroger account, we use Kroger's OAuth login to receive limited grocery, cart, and pricing data on your behalf, as authorized by you and by Kroger's own terms. We do not receive your Kroger password.
If you use AI-powered features (available on paid tiers), relevant inputs — such as pantry contents or a meal-planning prompt — are sent to our AI providers (OpenAI and/or Anthropic) to generate a response. We do not send your account password, payment details, or precise location to these providers. AI-generated suggestions are informational only: they do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you, and you always retain full control over whether to act on any suggestion.
Rummage Meal Planner offers three tiers: Free ($0), Non-AI ($7/month), and AI ($13/month), each with an annual option; the AI tier is currently offered with a 14-day free trial. Full pricing, plan features, and free-trial terms (including what happens if you don't cancel before the trial ends) are set out in our Terms of Service. Subscription purchases made through the mobile app are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, with subscription status managed through RevenueCat. If you purchase or manage a subscription through our website, that transaction is processed by Stripe. In either case, we receive confirmation of your subscription tier and status, but we do not receive or store your full payment card details — those are handled entirely by Apple, Google, or Stripe.
On the Non-AI and AI tiers, if you enable notifications, we use the Expo push notification service to send you notifications about your own pantry and meal-planning activity — for example, an item nearing its expiration date, a reminder about today's planned meals, or a weekly meal-planning nudge. These are all transactional/utility notifications tied to data you've already entered; we do not send marketing or promotional push notifications. Push notifications are not available on the Free tier. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
We send transactional email only — currently, password-reset emails when you request one. We do not send marketing or promotional email campaigns at this time; if that changes, this policy will be updated and you will be able to opt out of any non-essential email.
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information only with the service providers necessary to run the App, and only the data needed for each:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Hosts our application database and stores uploaded images (pantry, receipt, and profile photos) |
| Kroger | Fulfills grocery store lookup, cart, and pricing features you initiate |
| OpenAI / Anthropic | Generate AI meal-planning and recipe suggestions from the inputs you provide |
| RevenueCat | Manages mobile subscription entitlements and status |
| Apple / Google | Process mobile app-store subscription payments |
| Stripe | Processes web-based subscription payments and billing management, if you purchase through our website |
| Expo | Delivers push notifications on our behalf |
We do not share your data with data brokers or advertisers today. If advertising SDKs described above go live in the future, those providers will be added to this table and this policy will be updated accordingly before that happens. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Rummage Meal Planner, our users, or the public.
We retain your account and pantry data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see "Account deletion" below), your associated personal data — including your pantry items, recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and uploaded photos — is permanently deleted immediately, except where limited records must be kept for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes (for example, subscription purchase records held by Google Play, Apple, or RevenueCat). Copies in our encrypted server backups roll off automatically within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, to access or obtain a portable copy of it, to correct inaccurate information, to delete it, and to opt out of the sale of personal information or its use for targeted advertising or certain profiling. We do not currently sell personal information. If our advertising features described above go live in the future and involve targeted advertising, residents of states that provide an opt-out right (including Colorado and California) will be able to exercise that opt-out by contacting us, and we will honor recognized opt-out signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) where legally required.
You can exercise any of these rights, regardless of which state you live in, by emailing support@pantryflowmealplanner.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (for example, Colorado law generally requires a response within 45 days, with a possible 45-day extension for complex requests).
Rummage Meal Planner is not directed to or intended for use by children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Account registration currently does not include age verification. If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an account or provided personal information, we will delete that information and terminate the associated account promptly. A parent or guardian who believes their child has provided us with personal information can contact us at support@pantryflowmealplanner.com to request its review or deletion.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted, on-device storage for sign-in tokens, secure transmission (TLS) for data in transit, and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Rummage Meal Planner is currently operated from and primarily intended for users in the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including as new features (such as the advertising feature described above) become active. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
